Choose energy with Philips

It’s not easy to combine the hectic daily struggles with a healthy lifestyle. Just like most of my friends I don’t eat the daily amount of fruit and vegetables I need. Although this is really important for my health. But luckily I found  an easy solution for this problem: smoothies! Starting to drink a healthy smoothie every day has had a big influence on my health.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BREAKFAST …

A while ago I started to replace my normal daily breakfast including bread for a more varied one. I decided to start eating a lot more fruits and vegetables by drinking a homemade shake for breakfast. None of us has a lot of time in the morning and wants to wake up 20 minutes earlier to prepare breakfast. But it’s incredibly important to take a good breakfast every morning before going to work. So I decided to take my time and prepare an easy, healthy and delicious breakfast.

In this article I want to show you that eating healthy in the morning doesn’t have to be complicated or take a lot of time. I listed some of my favorite easy to go shakes that are perfect to drink on your way to work. Eating the right powerfoods gave me an amazing energy boost and helps me to get through a long day, especially during winter.

The last few months I tried different recipes for my morning smoothies. And especially for you guys I listed 3 of my favorite easy to make smoothies down below to add some healthy drinks into your life.

1.MINI FRUIT YOGURT

Because I’m in a hurry most of the morning it’s nice to have a recipe that’s easy and fast to make. Are you in a rush?  Just blend some frozen fruit with some yoghurt. And in only a few minutes you got your dose of energy for the day.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

  • ¾ cup non-fat plain yogurt
  • 1 cup of frozen fruit, like blueberries or strawberries

STEP 1

Just blend everything together till everything is nice and smooth

2.PURE GREEN

I have always been a fan of kiwis and a lot of other green fruits and vegetables, so I was really curious to try to combine these in one shake. I was really surprised with the result and I really enjoyed this fresh green shake.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

  • 2 ripe kiwis
  • 1 small cucumber
  • ½ cup low-fat plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro leaves
  • 6 ice cubes

STEP 1

Peel the kiwis and cucumber and cut them into pieces

STEP 2

Combine cucumber, kiwis, yogurt, cilantro and ice cubes in the blender. Blend them until everything is smooth.

3. POMEGRANATE SUPERPOWER

I was really excited to try out a shake using pomegranate arils. I had never really tried this fruit out before, but I really liked how the combination with strawberries turned out.

 

  • 1 large banana
  • 1 pear
  • ¼ cup pomegranate arils
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger
  • 1 cup ice

STEP 1

Add all ingredients into the blender and blend till the mixture is smooth.

STEP 2

You can finish the shake by adding a pomegranate arils or diced pears topping but that’s not necessary.

Swapping bread in the morning for a fresh homemade shake has been one of the best decisions I ever made. You have endless options and as you can see it’s really easy to make your homemade shake in the morning. In the first place it’s the perfect way to start eating a lot of fruit that will provide me with the energy I need. At the same time it’s also more varied, because the options to make my own shake are endless and it’s way more cheap than those trendy expensive juice bars in town.

My ultimate favorite fruit to use in shakes are bananas, because they are full of energy and are perfect to pair with all types of other fruits or nuts. Of course I‘m always open to discover new refreshing combos to update my morning routine.
